I have lived in Waupaca since 1986. I retired in January 2017 after working 28 years for Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services, with 27 of those years as the Manager of Economic and Employment Support. As such, I managed the public assistance programs and work programs that were part of the welfare reform movement in Wisconsin. I have a degree in Home Economics Education from UW-Stout and taught Home Economics classes at the high school level for 4 years and taught adult education courses for the technical college for about 12 years. I have always had a desire to help others better themselves and learn how to manage their employment, their finances and their personal lives.
I am involved with Foundations for Living because I believe in the work that is being done to help others who need a helping hand to get their lives on track. I also believe in the Christian faith on which it is founded. Because of my background with Economic and Employment Support, I am familiar with the public assistance and work programs offered by the county and feel that these programs can be a valuable resource for many to work in tandem with the programs at Foundations for Living. I have been trained in Trauma Informed Care, and am familiar with many agencies and resources in Waupaca County. I also have knowledge of handling personnel issues from having been a supervisor of 18-25 staff for over 20 years.
I look forward to seeing Foundations for Living continue to develop its programming, and to increase its capacity to serve more people. As a private non-profit, it is able to respond in a more nimble and less-bureaucratic way than government programs, and can make vital difference to the people in our community.
